Em

Em is an undergraduate at College of the Ferns, where she studies studio art in Asami’s pottery program alongside her sweetheart Janie. The two girls share a compact but cozy room in the Ondine Hostel on Citron Hill overlooking Fern River’s west side. On Fridays she has an internship at the art museum as an assistant to Yvette, the curator. She frequents the café around the back of the museum to visit with Janie and other friends.

On the weekends, Em enjoys hitting up the clothing swap that a friend runs out of his garage on the north side of the river. She’s always on the lookout for cute vintage pieces to rotate into her spare, ever-changing wardrobe. “Love and let go,” she says about clothing, which she wears in a similar celebratory spirit to the lively, voluptuous pots she builds in the studio. Asami calls her work “thick in the best possible way”.

Em grew up in the hills north of the river on her family’s working vineyard, and she and Janie make the trek up to visit some weekends.
